Since 1996, Dirk Swartenbroekx (Belgium) is making funky records under the name of Buscemi, one of his favorite actors. His style is deep. Difficult to categorise: nu bossa, nu lounge, house music, brazilian grooves, afrobeat, drum ‘n bass… Dancemusic with a latin feel is maybe the best description of the sound of Buscemi. Buscemi has released 4 fully-fledged CDs and one album with the Italian pianoplayer and composer Michel Bisceglia for the famous Blue Note label. more... Also there were 2 jazz-compilations he did for that same label. Buscemi’s skill at turning his hand to basically anything is born out by the way he manages to combine a wide range of musical styles. Buscemi’s groove is worldwide acknowledged and his fame as remixer too. The man produced already 40 mixes, he reworked tracks for bands as Madredeus and Calexico. Most of these mixes were compiled on the double album “Late Nite Reworks Vol 1″. Dirk Swartenbroekx still explores his exquisite worldwide taste for beautiful girls (as seen on his record sleeves) and additional warm music. He is now much in demand as DJ (eclectic, warm and deep stylee! – afro, bossa, house, electro, balkan beats, dub, drum ‘n bass, hits!…), but can also be booked as a complete live-band with his act Squadra Bossa. The Squadra Bossa dj-compilation is released in 2008 on the Downsall Label. On 2 cds, you get the main tracks Buscemi played in his dj-gigs. So, you can book Dirk solo as a dj or with live musicians (girl singer, horns, percussion, dancers). Succesfull dj- and live-gigs took place in more than 30 countries. (Canada, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Turkey, Switzerland, Italia, Ireland, Israel, VS, South-Africa, Denmark, Germany, England, Hungary, Finland, France, Mexico…)
