In 2006, MARVO burst on to the scene with over 600 spins on WPWX Power 92 and 107.5 WGCI mixshows in Chicago! He got over a 100 spins on XM Radio 66 RAW “Shine.” He was featured on the 2007 VIBE/BET Hoops & Hip-Hop Tour (11 cities) with Fabolous, Lloyd, Monica & Cheri Dennis. He competed at the Tag Records/Def Jam “Survival Of The Fittest Battle” in Philadelphia and ranked second, only to come back to Chicago and take first place and $5,000 at home
Although he experimented with street hustling and gang life, MARVO has earned his respect and street credibility by developing the gift of storytelling, crafting his own style, delivering hard-hitting urban commentary with street savvy beyond his years. He’s honest about his struggles, mistakes and the losses he’s taken in the past. His gritty narratives and cinematic rhymes about the violent life of organized crime communicate the dark side of Chicago made famous by Al Capone, Sam Giancana, Jeff Fort and Larry Hoover. The untold story of America’s “Second City,” Chicago and the chronicles of a young man struggling to survive with his “Back Against The Wall.”
