Apparently some Lady is Gaga for Salme Dahlstrom and it’s no wonder. Dahlstrom is a music biz vet who has been up, down and around the major label system for many years, scoring a few dozen placements in huge television commercials and TV shows and steadily building an audience for her infectious pop songs that easily merge brains, brawn, femininity and fun.
Like Moby did with his hugely popular album Play, Dahlstrom has managed to license every track from The Acid Cowgirl Audio Trade including syncs with companies such as Suave, Juicy Couture, Vodafone, Nike, MTV, Chips Ahoy, Miller Lite, Subaru, Quiznos, Ford Models, Bank of America and television programs and films such as One Tree Hill, Veronica Mars, Laguna Beach, The Real Orange County, The Hills, and Ice Age 3.
This accomplishment resulted in the Wall Street Journal crowning Salme the Licensing Queen in a full page article on Dahlstrom, published in the summer of 2009.
Hailed as one of the best dance albums of 2008 "The Acid Cowgirl Audio Trade" is knee deep in potential hit singles; the song “C’mon Y’All” spent 6 weeks on the Billboard Dance Chart and "Hello California" got the do over by acts such as big beat bad boys Quadrat Beat and went top 12 on Beatport's breaks chart.
Self-written and self-produced, Salme wrote and recorded the entire album in her studio in New York City. A hands-on producer, Salme does all her own programming, editing and mixing. While she invited a couple of friends to perform on a few of the tracks she played most of the instruments her self as well.
With titles like “Superstar Car Crash” and “G.L.S.” (stands for God Likes Sex) the album’s sole purpose is to entertain.
-“I take music very seriously, but I try not to take myself too seriously, Salme says. I am here to have a good time. To me music is about entertainment, nothing else. “The Acid Cowgirl Audio Trade” is meant to be an hour’s escape from the day-to-day. It’s got great sing-a-long choruses and fun, tongue in cheek lyrics with attitude that’ll put a smile on your face”.
Look for a new single ("So Delicious") from Salme in early 2010 with an album to follow later in the year.
