SHAYNA ZAID & THE CATCH

Blending elements of folk, indie pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and cabaret, Shayna Zaid & The Catch's sound occupies a place in music that bridges a new gap between the milieu of genres. They have drawn comparisons to Nickel Creek, Feist, Macy Gray, Gogol Bordello and A Fine Frenzy. Zaid's dynamic stage presence, her powerful smoky voice and her playful jazzy swagger lends an enchanting display amidst a refreshing acoustic soundscape - an equation made up of drummer Christopher Heinz, violinist and mandolinist Yan Izquierdo, guitarist Andrew Baird and bassist Fred Gerantabee.

Shayna Zaid & The Catch's live shows have been seen at over 55 U.S. Colleges since Fall 2008, throughout major venues and festivals such as Summerfest (Milwaukee), SXSW (Austin), CMJ (New York), Midpoint Music Fest (Cincinnati), Canadian Music Week (Toronto), The Living Room, Rockwood Music Hall, Canal Room and The Blender Theater, among others. In winter 2009, the band contributed a performance at VH1's “Save the Music” fundraiser alongside One Republic at NYC's premier Esquire Penthouse in SoHo, followed by a musical appearance in Times Square-New York for the official 2010 New Year's Eve celebrations.

Their songs have been heard on CBS's "CSI:NY", MTV's "The Real World" and "16 and Pregnant", CBS's "The Young and The Restless" as well as a national 2009 commercial campaign for Cotton, starring Miranda Lambert. Recently awarded first place in the Performance category of the International Songwriting Competition; having shared the stage with Norah Jones' 'Puss & Boots', Emily King, G-Love, and most recently She & Him, Jakob Dylan and Neko Case at Rachael Ray's Feedback showcase during the 2010 South by Southwest festival; having an upcoming appearance at Summerfest 2010, opening for the band 311; a brand new self-titled EP recently released; a full length album currently in the works; Shayna Zaid & The Catch are making lively strides in the world of upcoming independent music.
