Stephen Arnold began producing electronic music in 1994, building up his studio over time, revolving around an AKAI S2000, Atari STe, multi-effects units, analog/digital synths, drum machines, scraps of paper with EQ settings, and stacks of boxes full of floppy disks!

In 1997 he moved to Glasgow to study sound, audio engineering and music technology, and began to network with influencial producers and promoters from the industrial city. This fuelled his ambition to produce darker, more experimental music from his earlier work, which was more influenced by the mainstream electronic artists of the mid to late nineties. After several years as a promoter from 2001 (notably Camouflage and Breakcore Extravaganza), resident at various club nights (Super Scientists, Pogo Vogue, Dogma and more) and frequently attending warehouse parties and illegal raves, Espion made his first real mark on the underground scene in 2005, with sell-out releases on Transparent Sounds' label Orson Records, followed by remixes on two of the best selling records on Billy Nasty's Electrix Records; Transparent Sounds' 'Cider Club ep' and 'Spot the Difference'.

Since then, his diversity in his music has seen him progress into a well established artist, releasing with Toob, Swayzak, Bangkok Impact, Mesak, Scape One, John Selway, Paul Blackford, Vector Lovers, Mazzula, C-System, with frequent plays on Dave Clarke's White Noise radio show in recent months.

Espion has brought his dark and meticulous sound to venues all over the UK, Prague, Berlin, Udine (Italy) and Shenzhen (China), while also doing sound recording, sound design, post production and music for short film.
