United Kingdom

Invasion Mag ‘one thing that is for certain is that what these guys are doing on the folk front is unique’ Folk Radio UK ‘the hairs on my neck stood up on end when they sang together.’ Indie Obsessive - 'Hunter & the Bear is about three-part harmonization, acoustic guitar and energy.’ Penny Black – ‘cleverly layered vocal harmonies’ The Gig Review – ‘acoustic melody that instantly draws in the listener’ Sounds like : Of Monsters and Men, Boy & more... Bear Hunter & The Bear may have been compared to every current folk-rock band there is going, but critics have always made it clear that the quartet have that little something extra special that makes them stand out from the crowd. Inspired by artists such as The Band, Dire Straits and Bruce Springsteen, Will Irvine and Jimmy Hunter started to write and perform as a duo with Jimmy playing lead guitar, mandolin and backing vocal whilst beside him Will on the rhythm guitar and singing lead vocals. Having started the band in Newcastle where they were studying at University they moved to London in 2012 to bring their own brand of power folk to the huddled masses. Gareth Thompson, drums and Chris Clark, bass, completed the line up in 2014 to bring you a live set up you don’t want to miss. Having garnered universal praise for their Jamie Bell (Metronomy, Richard Ashcroft, The Rifles) debut EP ‘Dusty Road’ upon its release last year, the group are excited to announce that 2014 looks to be even busier than their hectic 2013. While 2013 saw them performing at Hard Rock Calling alongside the music God that is Bruce Springsteen and at Troon and Cornbury Festival, while also selling out their two headline shows at Islington Academy 2 and The Borderline. 2014 has already seen them join Eric Claption on his UK tour, while the band are thrilled to announce that they are to perform at T in the Park! Hotly tipped by BBC Radio 2 as ‘One to Watch’ and Music Week, Hunter & The Bear are hitting the road this summer armed with an aptly titled upcoming Pledge funded EP, ‘Before I Come Home’, the summer of 2014 is set to see Hunter & The Bear capitalize on their already impressive live reputation.
