Shwa Losben writes smart, catchy rock songs. He grew up listening to grunge and Brit-rock artists including Pearl Jam and Radiohead, and never forgot their pop sensibilities. “I always want to tell a story,” Losben says, “but I’m especially happy if you can hum my songs a few hours after the show.”
Since first emerging on the scene in 2005, Losben has become one of the hardest working independent musicians, touring constantly in the US and Europe while sharing the stage with diverse artists including Counting Crows, Ben Folds, and OK Go.
Recently, his hard work has paid off. In 2008 he released his debut solo album Chop Chop which USA Today described as “sharply written songs,” and On Tap Magazine called “haunting.” Chop Chop earned him the prestigious ASCAP Robert Allen Songwriting Award for which he was honored at Lincoln Center.
The album was a hit on college radio too, and Shwa was named a featured artist on XM/Sirius Radio’s The Loft. He made his television debut on Comcast’s “Backstage” and his music was selected for the upcoming films “The Book of Caleb” and “Sex on Mondays.”
Perhaps what truly sets Shwa apart the most from other singer/songwriters though is his inspired live show. Ranging from intimate storytelling solo performances to raucous full band ensembles, Shwa will get you dancing, laughing, and undoubtedly having a good time.
