THE MOXY

Hailing from the diverse and musically rich city of Philadelphia, The Moxy have cultivated a sound unlike any other. In the summer of 2007, members of the now defunct, post-‐hardcore band William’s Eve (Taylor, Carl), joined forces with an unlikely counterpart in acoustic singer/songwriter, Greta Hotmer. Add in Ahmed Smith, formerly of the metal-‐core band Phoenix Mourning, and you have a recipe for unique possibilities. Despite how the collaboration looks on paper, the result is nothing short of awe-‐inspiring.

After settling on a band name and laying down the first tracks of what is now known as “The Moxy Sound”, word started to spread. Not long after, at a Christmas party, an alliance between Bam Margera (Jackass, Viva La Bam) and The Moxy formed when he heard their first single, “Step Down”. That very week, Bam began playing their tracks on his Sirius XM radio show and having them on as guests. Bam continued to rally behind the band, ultimately shooting the video for their single “Step Down”, as well as feature them in his Warner Brothers movie, “Where The #$&% Is Santa?” Soon, Moxy’s music was being requested and played on hit shows like “The Hills” and “The City”, and for the promotion of TBS’s “Fairly Legal”.

With the engineering help of Chad I Ginsburg from CKY, The Moxy set out to record and release their first collection of songs; an EP simply titled Vol. 1. Feeding off of the fans’ ecstatic reaction, the band quickly returned to the studio to give them what they demanded...more music! Consequently, Vol. 2 was almost entirely funded by fan donations and became a testament to the bond The Moxy shares with them. 7,000 physical/digital download sales and more than 75,000 illegal downloads later, The Moxy is garnering attention on a global scale. Their fan base is not only huge in America, but countries like the UK and Australia have yielded some of the most rabid and passionate fans of all. But don’t tell that to the fans in Norway, Finland, Canada, Germany and New Zealand...they will insist that they hold the title!

But The Moxy is a live band, first and foremost. On the merit of their outstanding live performances, they convincingly took top honor at Linkin Park’s Project Revolution competition in Philly winning them the gig. With that, they’ve gone on to play notable shows with the likes of INNERPARTYSYSTEM, The Sounds, Kill Hannah, CKY and Terrible Things (featuring Fred Mascherino of Taking Back Sunday). Other well-‐known Moxy fans have come out to express their love of the band like Kat Von D who enlisted The Moxy to play her 2009 birthday bash.

All of these wonderful things have been made possible expressly as a result of the fans that appreciate The Moxy, their music and what they stand for. This is the energy that caught the attention of Greg Ruoff (LIFT Entertainment), who began putting together a course of action to help The Moxy achieve the next level of success. Duane Baron (Ozzy Osbourne, Social Distortion, Mötley Crüe) was presented the material and excitedly joined on as producer/engineer. The rest will be written in history.
