Chiptune / 8-Bit
Chiptune, also called chip music or 8-bit music, is electronic music produced utilizing basic synthesized waveforms, percussions and white noise. These sounds are used to emulate vintage computers, video game consoles and arcade machines. While it has been a mostly underground genre, 8-bit music has developed a strong following since the 1980s through the 21st century, and while influencing the development of electronic dance music. 8-bit can be heard in various sub-genres of electronic music as well as trip hop, grime, rock and alternative hip hop instrumentals.
