Artists of the Month: Young Empires 225 words · 2 minute read

Three-piece electro-rock group Young Empires from Toronto has been compared to bands such as The Killers and Arcade Fire, but it took a musical journey to get them to that point of recognition. After five years of artistic growth and change, the band released their debut album, The Gates, in September 2015 – and the wait was well worth it. The album’s time of completion reaffirms the cliche belief that “practice makes perfect.” The Gates is everything one could ask for from an indie pop album: an electronic balance of edgy sounds and crisp vocals.

Chosen as Spotify’s CA “Spotlight” Artist for 2015, and featured with brands such as Coors, Google, and the Olympics, the burgeoning popularity of the band will only continue to grow. The music of Young Empires is mature and polished in terms of production, but the upbeat rhythms maintain youthful energy – an infusion that could be the perfect flavor to any brand’s music strategy.
